Disney’s Frozen Going To Broadway!

After winning a Golden Globe for Best Animated Feature film, Disney’s hit movie Frozen is going to Broadway. The news comes straight from the mouth of Disney CEO and Chairman Bob Iger, who said in an interview with Fortune that he has plans to turn the franchise into a musical.

Frozen chronicles a brave princess’ journey to find her estranged sister amidst an eternal winter is Disney’s number one all-time animation debut. The picture has grossed $669 million thus far, and is soon expected to surpass “The Lion King” as the highest grossing Disney film of all time. As of now, few details have been released about the movie’s adaptation from screen to stage. Iger told Fortune there was no rush regarding the musical. “We’re not demanding speed,” Iger said. “We’re demanding excellence.”

The “Frozen” film houses a cast of Broadway veterans already, including writer Robert Lopez of “The Book of Mormon,” and stars  Idina Menzel and Jonathan Groff of “Wicked” and “Spring Awakening” fame.
